Nora Gibbons is a writer, cinematographer, photographer, and documentarian hailing from Kansas City, Missouri, currently studying Media Arts Production with a minor in Journalism at Emerson College.

As a daughter to a writer/artist and photographer, Nora grew up with an appreciation for art and documentation, holding cameras and pens well before her consciousness had fully kicked in. Once she began chasing the thrill of capturing the beautiful, tense, and enthralling parts of life, she couldn’t stop. She is always searching for the next spark in a story to tell and the perfect community to tell it with.

At the beginning of her sophomore year of college, Nora spent time studying in The Netherlands and traveling across Europe, which sparked an interest in documentary filmmaking and photography that had been lying dormant for years. When she returned to Boston, she dove headfirst into documentary work, creating the short Endless Courage, an exploration of a Boston street artist and the people he has anonymously encouraged for years. That project reminded her just how important a community is to an artist — and how important an artist is to a community.

Simultaneously, she began her journey in the world of music videos, working with Emerson alumni as Director of Photography and Tech Producer to create for students at the Berklee College of Music. Holding two DP positions for such videos in one semester made every day feel like a new lesson to learn, a feeling that never went away.

That experience, combined with her work with TorchHouse Studio and Ameri'kana TV in her home of Kansas City, Missouri, and her visit to Kent State for the 55th Commemoration of the Kent State Massacre, revealed her goal: artful cinematography and producing for documentaries and music videos of all kinds, but especially those that spark important change in the hearts of individuals and in communities.

Away from the camera or her notebook, Nora can be found on the tennis court, on a long hike, in the movie theater, planning a new adventure, or spending time with the family and friends that inspire her daily.
